This ancient pūrākau tells of Tawhaitu, a woman taken by Whanawhana, a chief of the Patupaiarehe, who uses magic and music to place her under his spell. With the help of a tohunga, Tawhaitu and her husband Ruarangi create powerful spiritual protections using karakia, kōkōwai, and ritual practices, breaking the enchantment and freeing her from the fairy chief’s control.
This puzzle is brought to life through a single-sided image tray puzzle in A4 size (310 mm × 220 mm). Available in 4-piece, 9-piece,12-piece and 18-piece options, it supports early learning, problem-solving, and fine motor development while connecting tamariki to Māori storytelling in a meaningful, hands-on way.
