The deeds of Māui tell the stories of a clever and courageous trickster who shaped the world through his bold actions — from slowing the sun, to fishing up the great fish of Aotearoa, to seeking fire for humankind. Using A4 storyboards, tamariki can explore each of Māui’s adventures through rich visual storytelling on the front, with kōrero and guided learning prompts on the back. These storyboards support mat time, group discussion, and oral storytelling, helping children connect to pūrākau, build cultural understanding, and develop language and critical thinking skills in a meaningful, hands-on way.
