Sina and the Eel : Floor Puzzle
Sina and the Eel : Floor Puzzle
Tae Eke Educational Resources
Sina was a beautiful girl whose fame reached the Tui Fiti, the King of Fiji. Using magic, he transformed himself into an eel and travelled to Sina’s village to see her. Sina discovered the eel in the village pool and, realising it was gentle, kept it as her pet. When the eel grew old and weak, he revealed his true identity and asked Sina to bury his head in the ground. From this place a coconut tree grew, and the markings on the coconut shell are said to be the face of the eel, reminding us of their story.
