Whāngaimokopuna was a taniwha who lived with the people of Motuiti Pā and was treated like a treasured pet. While the adults were away, the children fed him only eel heads instead of the best parts. Angry and hurt, Whāngaimokopuna ate one of the children and was banished from his home. He fled inland, carving pathways through rivers, hills, and valleys. Along his journey, he shaped important waterways and mountain ranges. Today, it is said that when mist settles over the mountains, it is Whāngaimokopuna weeping for the people he once lived with.

This puzzle is brought to life through a single-sided image tray puzzle in A4 size (310 mm × 220 mm). Available in 4-piece, 9-piece, and 12-piece and 18-piece options, it supports early learning, problem-solving, and fine motor development while connecting tamariki to Māori storytelling in a meaningful, hands-on way.

NOTE: The first image shows an example of what the puzzle pieces may look like, while the second image shows an example of how the image tray will appear. Unless specified
