Our Kaitiaki Tāne blocks are a beautiful storytelling taonga made especially for tamariki, designed to help kids stack, explore, and learn through hands-on play while connecting with Te Ao Māori. Each set includes two large foundation blocks (100mm H x 250mm W x 100mm D) representing Papatūānuku and Ranginui, and eight smaller kaitiaki blocks (120mm H x 40mm W x 40mm D) that fit perfectly in little hands. Together, they create an awesome way for tamariki to tell the story of creation.
In the beginning it was Papa-tūnuku and Ranginui, the parents, and then all the children are placed in between them using the small blocks, allowing kids to build the story as they build the tower. It’s a fun and meaningful way to support te reo Māori, spark imagination, strengthen fine motor skills, and help tamariki learn the names and roles of each kaitiaki through play.
