How Māui Slowed the Sun : Single or Tray A4 Puzzle
Tae Eke Educational Resources
Māui noticed that the sun raced across the sky each day, leaving people with very little time to work, play, or care for their whānau. Wanting to help humankind, Māui gathered his brothers and travelled east to where the sun rises. Together, they wove strong ropes and waited in hiding. When the sun appeared, they trapped it and Māui struck it, demanding that it slow its journey across the sky. From that day on, the sun has moved more slowly, giving longer days and more light for people to live well.
