This image represents the unity and diversity of the many cultures that make up Aotearoa. At its centre sits the globe, overlaid with white feathers inspired by the Parihaka symbol of peace. The feathers reference the kaupapa of non-violent resistance and unity associated with Parihaka — standing strong with dignity, compassion, and aroha. They symbolise harmony, reconciliation, and the shared responsibility to care for one another.
The central imagery reflects whakapapa, mana, and interconnectedness. Although the children shown come from different cultural backgrounds — Māori, Pasifika, Asian, Pākehā and others — they are visually woven together around the same centre, reinforcing the message that diversity strengthens us.
